Workshops and classes at Franklin Square Gallery are held in a spacious studio facility and are open to nonmembers. Unless otherwise indicated materials are not provided. If the workshop is filled in advance a waiting list will be assembled in the order of inquiry. Any workshop vacancies due to cancellation will be filled from this waiting list in order of priority.

In the event of cancellation by a paid attendee fees are nonrefundable unless the position can be filled prior to the first day of the workshop.

2008 Workshop Schedule

March 1
Sybil West Pottery Handbuilding Workshop
Sybil West will do a pottery handbuilding workshop at the pottery studio in Franklin Square Park. The cost of this workshop is $45.00. In addition Sybil will judge the 3D portion of the 2008 Spring Show. Attendance will be limited as it is a hands-on workshop. If signup exceed limits Sybil has agreed to do another workshop at a later date.

Betsy Dillard Stroud's Mixed Media Workshop
Betsy Dillard Stroud, AWS, D.F., NWS, will be the 2D judge for the 2008 July National Show and workshop instructor at Franklin Square Gallery in Southport, NC. She is a former Editor of International Artist Magazine and has written for many major art magazines for the last twenty years. Betsy is the author of "Painting from the Inside Out" and "The Artist's Muse: Unlock the Door to for your Creativity". She is also one of 26 Americans who have been invited to exhibit in November, 2007 in Nanjing, China in the Jiangsu Museum in the first International Exhibition of Watermedia World Masters.

Betsy will be teaching a mixed media workshop which uses a combination of watermedia, collage materials and other products to create innovative and dynamic paintings. The fee for the workshop is $370 for five days of instruction, beginning on June 23rd through the 27th. The class will be limited to 16 people.

Ben Owen III Demonstration Workshop
Ben Owen III will host a demonstration workshop on June 23,2008 at the Trinity Methodist Church in Southport, NC. Registrations are being accepted now and entries will close May 31.

The workshop will be held in Fellowship Hall, a large multi purpose room from 9-4PM and includes lunch.

Ben's honors include Ceramics Monthly cover 2005, North Carolina National Treasure by Randall Library UNCW Wilmington 2004. He continues the Owen tradition of fine pottery. Further information is available at www.benowenpottery.com .

This class is designed for the experienced artist.
Classes are free but there is a minimal facility use fee for each participant.
